that brought tears to my eyes, I think you should celebrate who your mom was on Mother's Day, just because she is no longer "here" doesn't mean you should not enjoy Mother's Day, celebrate her, how wonderful she was and how it makes you appreciate being a mother now. xox and big hugs

I think that it's important for kids to understand that money is something that we work for, and that because of that, you have to be careful of how and when you use it. I have seen too many peeped ( kids and adults) who think that they are just entitled to things because they want them, and don't understand the whole concept of having to work/save for them. I always worked and saved for things, and because of that, I appreciate what I have even more, and I want to pass that lesson on to my son.

its best to start early!!! Never too young . Money is everywhere, you buy food, things and such. My kids had to understand how it was earned and saved. My son has a piggy bank and it keeps track of how much he has (digital) and if there is a certain item he wants. I show him the picture and price. Print it out and he can watch how it much it grows (in his piggy bank) to match the price for that certain item. he really gets it. He said it takes a long time!! I think he appreciate the value of things now.
My daughter on the other hand, she make a list of things she wants. I don't buy her things on a pulse. Every time we go shopping, I tell her BEFORE we go to store. WE are getting what we NEED. if she wants something. She would write it down and the price. She can set some goals of earning some money, babysitting, lemonade stand, odd jobs etc. it really gives her persceptive of how it was earned and spending. She is more appreciative of things now and she is really stepping up to be responsible with it.
